ITINERARY |
|
Day 1
: |
Depart from JHB at 10am in our comfortable,
air-conditioned bus. Enjoy the changing African scenery while our
experienced operator shares fascinating information and stories
about local areas. We stop for lunch** en route and arrive in
Palapye an historical Botswana town, at around 4pm. Your first
African night where you will enjoy a sumptuous dinner.
|
|
Day 2 :
|
After enjoying a good breakfast we head for Maun in
the heart of wild Africa. Stopping for lunch** en route, we travel
through the African bush along the outskirts of the vast
Makgadikgadi Pans and Game Reserve. We arrive in Maun around 4pm for
a two night stay. |
|
Day 3 :
|
After an early breakfast we set off by boat into the
famous Okavango Delta, the largest inland river delta in the world.
You will experience unforgettable beautiful scenery and see, at
close range, hundreds of species of birds and game. Expect the
unexpected. |
|
Day 4 :
|
Another early start when we head for the Chobe Game
Reserve in northern Botswana. Here we drive straight through the
Nxai Pan National Park towards Nata. Lunch** is at Nata after which
we drive to Chobe and arrive at about 2pm. 3pm sees us on a river
boat cruiser on the Chobe river, again watching the African
wildlife. You will probably experience a sunset never to be
forgotten as the red orb settles onto the horizon, dusk lingering
for moments and then darkness falls with startling quickness,
accompanied by the unmistakable sounds of an African night
beginning. |
|
Day 5 :
|
We begin this eventful day with a pre-dawn game drive
into the Chobe National Game Park, a real African experience. After
breakfast at 8h45am we depart for Victoria Falls – THE SMOKE THAT
THUNDERS – so named by the local Africans for the mist created by
the falls, that can be seen from 40km away. After a leisurely
lunch** and checking in at the hotel, we spend the rest of the day
exploring the falls. Time and place of dinner will be announced on
the day but promises to be of true African taste. |
|
Day 6 :
|
After breakfast you are free to individually**
explore the town of Victoria Falls and participate in as many or as
little available activities (river rafting, bungee jumping,
helicopter flips, river cruise, game drives, curios shopping etc.)as
you please. Steeped in history, the museum and other places of
interest provide fascinating insights into the earliest day of
discovery and adventure of this beautiful part of Africa. All info
will be made available. |
|
Day 7 :
|
We depart for Nata after breakfast and once again
drive through some of the most beautifully treed forests in Africa.
Check in at Nata is around 2pm and at 4h30pm we embark, once again,
on another sightseeing trip to the breathtaking emptiness of the
Makgadikgadi Pans – flat expanses of white earth. |
|
Day 8 :
|
The morning of day eight is available for a bit of
tranquil rest and free time. At 12pm, we head back down to Palapye
where we celebrate, with a traditional “braaivleis”, our memorable
adventure under the Botswana night sky. |
|
Day 9 :
|
Sadly, and all too soon, we bid Botswana a fond
farewell, crossing the border back into South Africa, arriving at
our drop off point in JHB at around 5pm. |
